Trail Trust Broadens Reach of NOHVCC Great Trails Workshops – NOHVCC

“Fox Factory created Trail Trust to provide grants to organizations helping to preserve the places we love to play. The goal is to bring together diverse communities to build, maintain, and expand access to trails. In short, we want to make sure that the thrill of the ride can live on forever.” This quote from the Trail Trust website (www.trailtrust.com) does a fantastic job of painting a picture of what this program is all about; and Fox has been hugely successful funding trail projects across the world on multiple continents.

NOHVCC has been fortunate enough to be a recipient of Trail Trust funding through a multi-year grant that has helped fund Great Trails Workshops across the US. The funding has also helped support the ever-popular NOHVCC annual conference. NOHVCC’s goal in partnering with Trail Trust was to bring management, design, and maintenance training to OHV clubs, associations, program managers, and land managers that did not have access to funding to bring these trainings in on their own. Thanks to this funding NOHVCC has been able to bring Great Trails Training to North Carolina, Alabama, and Washington. This year NOHVCC will be visiting Massachusetts (more info here) and one other location to be determined utilizing the generous support from Trail Trust.

The Great Trails Guidebook, authored by Dick Duford, and published by NOHVCC in 2015 is a comprehensive guide to providing sustainable and fun OHV recreation experiences (You can download the book for free here). The overall theme is balancing resource protection with the OHV rider’s needs. Soon after publication a companion workshop series was created to help apply the information found in the book at the field level. NOHVCC has delivered over 50 of the Great Trails Workshops across North America.

NOHVCC is thrilled that the Great Trails Workshop series remains so popular amongst OHV enthusiasts and managers, and we look forward to continuing to improve this workshop series. Thank you to Trail Trust and our many other partners who continue to make this program a success!
