Great Trails Workshop Coming to Tennessee – May 17–18, 2026
Thanks to generous funding from the Right Rider Access Fund and in partnership with Doe Mountain Recreation Area, the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) is pleased to announce an upcoming Great Trails Workshop to be held May 17–18, 2026, at Doe Mountain Recreation Area in Tennessee.
This two-day workshop will bring together trail managers, volunteers, land managers, and recreation enthusiasts to focus on the design, construction, maintenance, and management of sustainable, high-quality trail systems.
Charles Ridelhuber, Executive Director of the Doe Mountain Recreation Authority, emphasized the importance of this opportunity:
“Hosting a Great Trails Workshop at Doe Mountain Recreation Area is an investment in the future of our trail system and the region’s outdoor recreation economy. As one of Tennessee’s premier off-road destinations, Doe Mountain attracts riders, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts from across the Southeast. Bringing in national-level expertise allows us to elevate trail quality, sustainability, and the overall user experience.”
He added: “Learning from industry leaders in trail design and construction provides practical insight that helps reduce maintenance costs, improve safety, and ensure long-term trail durability. Equipping volunteers with these techniques strengthens our ability to maintain and grow the system effectively.”
This workshop reinforces a shared commitment to stewardship, education, and collaboration, while continuing to position Doe Mountain as a leader in sustainable outdoor recreation.
Instruction will be led by Kim Fredrick of Chinook Associates, one of NOHVCC’s highly experienced trail professionals, bringing extensive expertise in trail design, construction, and long-term maintenance practices.
