2026 Trails Workshop - Doe Mountain, Tennessee - May 15-17, 2026
Thanks to the generous support of the Right Rider Access Fund and our partners at Doe Mountain, the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) is excited to host a Great Trails Workshop at the Doe Mountain Recreation Area May 15–17.
This three-day, hands-on workshop will focus on the maintenance, construction, design, and management of OHV trails. The intended audience includes trail managers, trail volunteers, field staff, OHV enthusiasts, non-motorized trail users, and other recreation stakeholders who are passionate about sustainable trail systems.
All classroom sessions will be held at the Adventure Trail Center at Doe Mountain (1203 Habin Hill Road). Registration is limited to 25 participants to ensure a quality learning experience. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist will be established. If you are unable to register online, please email [email protected] to be added to the waitlist.

If you’re unable to attend this May session, don’t worry — NOHVCC and Doe Mountain are working together to host a second Great Trails Workshop at the same location in October. Additional details will be announced soon.
The workshop will be led by Kim Fredrick of Chinook Associates, a regular NOHVCC contractor with extensive experience in trail planning, design, and management. The agenda will be released in the coming weeks and updated on the website as additional details are confirmed. We encourage you to register early to reserve your spot.
Please note that this workshop includes both classroom instruction and field sessions. Participants will spend time walking on and off trail in forested terrain and traveling to various locations within the trail system by OHV. Appropriate seasonal clothing and sturdy hiking shoes are required.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own food, drinks, water, and snacks. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
For field sessions involving OHV travel, participants are encouraged to bring their own machines. Proper safety gear is mandatory, including:
Helmet
Goggles
Gloves
Over-the-ankle boots
Long pants
Long-sleeved shirt
Anyone not wearing appropriate safety gear will not be permitted to participate in field activities.
Lodging near the Roan Creek Campground will be limited. Information on campground reservations will be released soon. The nearest city with full amenities is Mountain City, where hotel accommodations are available for overnight stays.
We look forward to seeing you in Tennessee this May for three days of learning, collaboration, and building better trails together.
