Alabama Jeep Outfitters: A Year of Purpose, Service, and Growing Impact
Founded in May 2025 by Brittany and Michael Sides, Alabama Jeep Outfitters (AJO) was built on one powerful idea: “Jeepin’ for a Cause.” What began as a vision to bring together Jeep enthusiasts across Alabama has quickly grown into a statewide nonprofit movement centered on service, safety, stewardship, and meaningful community impact.
From the very beginning, AJO set out to be more than a Jeep club. The organization was established as a purpose-driven nonprofit focused on advocacy, volunteerism, responsible recreation, and strengthening communities throughout Alabama. In just its first year, AJO has demonstrated how a shared passion for off-road recreation can become a force for good.
State and National Involvement
AJO’s commitment to service extends well beyond local events. The organization is proud to support America250AL, including participation in the historic Flag Sojourn 250 Tour leading up to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
In addition, Alabama Jeep Outfitters is the only official Tread Lightly! member organization in Alabama, reinforcing its dedication to responsible off-road recreation, land stewardship, and conservation ethics. This affiliation reflects AJO’s strong belief that recreation and resource protection go hand in hand.
Safety, Training, and Advocacy
One of AJO’s most important initiatives is its focus on safety and structured volunteerism. The organization actively advocates for the development of a regulated, trained, statewide unified response network that would connect civilian Jeep owners with law enforcement agencies and Emergency Management Agencies across Alabama.
This vision includes support for:
Organized disaster response
Search and rescue assistance
Emergency logistics and transportation
Pre- and post-disaster community support
AJO strongly believes volunteer efforts should be trained, accountable, and safety-driven, working alongside first responders to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
2025 Highlights
AJO’s founding year was filled with impactful initiatives that reached communities across the state.
The 1st Annual Jeepin’ for a Cure – AL, held in October 2025, brought Jeepers together from across Alabama in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, creating the first event of its kind in the state focused on breast cancer awareness and fundraising.
The organization also partnered locally for Eclectic’s Santa Law, helping bring Christmas joy to children and families in need during the holiday season.
At the Wetumpka Mardi Gras Festival, AJO distributed more than 350 kindness ducks, each featuring handwritten messages of encouragement. This creative outreach effort promoted positivity, youth engagement, and community connection during one of Alabama’s largest Mardi Gras celebrations north of Mobile.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As Alabama Jeep Outfitters moves into 2026, the organization is preparing for a milestone year of growth and expanded outreach.
On April 18, 2026, AJO will host its 1st Annual Jeepin’ the Spectrum, supporting autism awareness and celebrating inclusivity for families across Alabama. This initiative is especially meaningful to the organization, as the cause is deeply personal to its founders.
During Memorial Day weekend 2026, AJO volunteers will participate in Flags & 4 Wheel Drive, placing American flags on the graves of fallen veterans in local cemeteries to honor their sacrifice and preserve their legacy.
Later in the year, the organization will continue its women’s health outreach through the 2nd Annual Jeepin’ for a Cure – AL, benefiting the Joy to Life Foundation.
Beyond these signature events, AJO plans to continue building partnerships with charities, civic groups, schools, and first responders throughout Alabama.
More Than Jeeps
Alabama Jeep Outfitters is made up of families, veterans, medical professionals, first responders, and community leaders — all united by a shared desire to serve.
Their Jeeps may bring them together, but service is what drives them.
As AJO continues building a responsible, trained, and service-focused Jeep community, the organization remains committed to strengthening
Alabama one event, one partnership, and one act of service at a time.
