MIKE PINKERTON BACK IN ACTION AT HATFIELD/McCOY West Virginia NOHVCC State Rep is prepping to return to dirt biking following accident 3 months ago
Over three months ago Mike Pinkerton nearly lost his life in a hit and run accident while he was walking near a Virginia road. Incredibly, the NOHVCC State Representative from West Virginia recovered quickly even though he lost his left arm in the accident. Four weeks later he was back at his office at the Hatfield/McCoy Trails headquarters where he is the Marketing Director. "I am back to work and busier than ever and I love it!", says Mike. "I've even been out riding already. My first couple of rides have been on ATVs and the Polaris Ranger. Right now we're working on setting up a Suzuki DRZ400 with an automatic clutch and I've found a prosthetic device that will let me hold both ends of the bars. I plan on dirt biking as soon as possible. I feel so lucky because I can basically do most everything I could before the accident." Mike continues, "My friends at NOHVCC have been tremendous throughout my recovery. It's truly great to be a part of the community that is not only doing such a good thing across America for OHV, but also takes care of its own members. Your calls, cards, gifts and prayers have truly meant so much to me. Thank you! "One of the best things to come out of my accident is a revived energy to enjoy life and to do good for others. Being a representative for NOHVCC is one way I can help to give back." NOHVCC Executive Director Russ Ehnes had this to say about his pal. "Mike is an inspiration to all of us and
someone I’m very proud to call my friend. He handled this
difficult situation with an incredible level of grace and
determination, never losing sight of the things in life that
are most important. We’re glad we were able to support and
encourage him through the past few months and I can't wait
to go riding with him at Hatfield/McCoy again!"
