OHV RECREATION SPECIALIST SOUGHT FOR
PROFESSOR OPENING AT MARSHALL U.
Will teach four OHV and other Parks and
Recreation courses on the West Virginia campus
There's a potential job opening in
August 2005 for an Assistant or Associate Professor who
would be teaching a variety of courses in the Parks and
Recreation department, including the four OHV recreation
courses which were developed with guidance and support from
the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council
(NOHVCC).
POTENTIAL FACULTY POSITION
The purpose of this announcement is to alert interested and
qualified individuals of a possible vacant faculty position
beginning in August, 2005.
Location: Marshall University, Huntington, West
Virginia
Position: Tenure-track position at the rank of
assistant professor or associate professor.
Academic Rank: Recreation and Park Resources
Qualifications: Possess a doctorate; ABD applicants
will be considered.
Responsibilities: Teach the following undergraduate
and graduate courses:
Recreation Area and Facility Maintenance
Wildland Recreation Management
Environmental Interpretation
Park Management and Operation
Introduction to Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation
Planning and Design of OHV Trail Systems
Construction of OHV Trail Systems
Operation and Management of OHV Trail Systems
Carry out other typical and normal academic
responsibilities.
(Note) It is important that the successful candidate possess
skills and knowledge, not only in the planning and
management of renewable natural resources for recreational
use, but also must possess skills and knowledge in the broad
aspect of off-highway vehicle recreation. The successful
candidate must be able to adapt two of the four approved OHV
courses so that they can be offered on the Internet.The Recreation and
Park Resources program, in cooperation with the Nick J. Rahall, II Appalachian Transportation Institute, with
guidance and support from the National Off-Highway Vehicle
Conservation Council, has developed a series of OHV courses.
These OHV courses will allow students an opportunity to
obtain a minor in OHV recreation and the courses will be
available on the Internet.
