TREAD LIGHTLY! COMPLETES NEW PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT CAMPAIGN

"Play Nice" will focus on 4-wheeling, ATV riding, mountain biking, personal watercraft use, boating, fishing, camping/hiking, motorized trail biking, horseback riding, hunting and snowmobiling

The nonprofit organization Tread Lightly!® has recently completed its newest print Public Service Announcement campaign, entitled “Play Nice.” The campaign was created to educate and inspire recreationists to minimize their impact on the outdoors while still having fun.
“These PSAs tell recreationists exactly how they should be behaving in the environment,” said Patti Klein, National Ethics Coordinator for the Bureau of Land Management. “But it gets the point across in a tactful, inspirational way.”

                                         STAY ON THE TRAIL!
Much of the campaign focuses on educating recreationists to stay on designated roads and trails. The need for this type of education has become greater since the US Forest Service’s recent proposal to close all motorized recreation to trails clearly designated for motorized use.
Lori Davis, Tread Lightly!’s executive director, announced the campaign as “one of the most important and powerful tools Tread Lightly! has ever created.”
The organization created the campaign to help instill an ethic into the millions of Americans who recreate in the outdoors annually. The American Recreation Coalition reports that 9 of every 10 Americans participate in some type of outdoor recreational activity each year.
                                        SERIES OF ELEVEN

Play Nice features 11 PSAs focusing on some of the most popular outdoor activities—including 4-wheeling, ATV riding, mountain biking, personal watercraft use, boating, fishing, camping/hiking, motorized trail biking, horseback riding, hunting and snowmobiling.
The PSAs were designed to be printed in outdoor enthusiast magazines, brochures, maps and any other type of printed publications. They come in 10 different sizes to fit any page space, or can be enlarged slightly to make a poster. They are a re-vamp of an old campaign from 2002.
Anyone interested in obtaining a DVD or CDs of the Play Nice campaign can email monica@treadlightly.org or call 1-800-966-9900. To view or download the 8.5”x11” versions of PSAs, go to www.treadlightly.org
