RHODE ISLAND STATE OHV ASSOCIATION GETS JUMP-START AT NOHVCC WORKSHOP

It's a small state, but representatives from ATV, dirt bike and 4WD clubs meet to form a powerful new alliance

The NOHVCC's Dana Bell and Lynn Noltner returned recently from the first of three organizational workshops for a new state OHV association in Rhode Island. "Even though the state is small and is limited in their riding opportunities, the enthusiasm of the attendees was incredible,” reported Noltner following the May 8-9 meeting. “We were pleased with the turnout of OHV enthusiasts for our workshop. We had representation from all of the off-highway enthusiasts, which included ATV, dirt bike and 4WD. The communication network is in process and Rhode Island will have a strong organization up and running real soon."

New Mexico OHV enthusiasts met on May 15 for their third and final meeting for incorporation of the New Mexico Off-Highway Vehicle Alliance. Alabama will soon follow with their final incorporation meeting of the Alabama Off-Highway Vehicle Association on July 24.)

As the facilitator for NOHVCC association development program meetings Dana Bell says, “It is humbling to see the willingness of OHV enthusiasts to step forward and undertake the challenging process of forming a new state association. Despite what so many are already giving in volunteer time we see no hesitation in further commitment if it gives them a chance to enhance and protect their OHV recreation opportunities.”

· Represent the entire OHV public on statewide issues with a united voice
and consistent message,
· Be a contact point for legislators, land managers and others,
· Be a responsible identity for OHV recreation,
· Create a better informed OHV public, and
