All the
details on two trail project positions in Nevada
Following are two OHV-related job
opportunities that recently opened up in Nevada.
Silver State OHV Trail Project Lead:
Working with BLM Ely Outdoor Recreation Planners, the Silver
State Trails Project Lead will draw upon their experiences,
abilities and vision to provide technical review and
evaluation of proposed actions on federal lands. Protection
of Lincoln County’s rich cultural
and
biological resources and coordination with internal and
external partners to develop an implementation plan that
will minimize user conflicts is critical. The SST Lead will
become proficient in the requirements dictated by the
Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation and Development Act
of 2004, and BLM policies governing management of motorized
trails including the Silver State OHV Trail and the Chief
Mountain OHV Vehicle Recreation Area. More specifically, the
SST Lead will oversee development of a Silver State
off-highway trail management plan and development of a Chief
Mountain Recreation Area Management Plan, and otherwise
become proficient in writing recreation monitoring reports.
Compensation: $42,955 - $51,972 (GS 09 – GS 11) annually,
DOE plus health benefits
Timeline: July 01, 2006 – June 30, 2009
SST Interpretation & Monitoring
Specialist:
Working with BLM Ely Outdoor Recreation Planners and the
Silver State OHV Trail Project Lead to carry out assignments
which involve motorized recreation on BLM lands,
specifically by fostering proper use of public lands through
outdoor education. Specific tasks of the position include:
* creating a public education and interpretive plan for
proper OHV use in Lincoln County, Nevada, which will include
a regional sign plan and actions to minimize motorized
recreation in the sensitive Clover Creek drainage;
* teach Tread Lightly workshops in the Lincoln County school
system; and
* work in a team environment with internal and external
partners to develop a volunteer based Trail Ranger Project
for the Silver State Trail System for public information and
long term monitoring of the projects.
Compensation: $35,116 - $51,972 (GS 07 – GS 11) annually,
DOE plus health benefits
Timeline: July 01, 2006 – December 31, 2007
