Available Education

Education is one of the primary functions of the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council. Our organization offers a wide variety of programs, many of which can be custom-designed for specific purposes and locales.

Workshop Programs

NOHVCC Workshops bring nationally-recognized experts to your location to address your specific local needs. The workshops incorporate both indoor and outdoor sessions, including speakers, field demonstrations, and hands-on activities designed to provide you with the tools you need to manage your OHV program effectively.

Webinar Series

If you don't have the resources to bring the NOHVCC team to your location, you can still get much of the information that is presented at the OHV Management and US Forest Service Travel Management Rule workshops by attending a webinar.  The webinar sessions range from explaining the US Forest Service Planning Process and how to work with a Land Manager to explaining who an OHV recreationist is and how to design a sustainable trail where they will want to stay on the trail.  You get the benefit of interacting with a presenter without the need to travel.

Our videos take the information from our workshop and webinar series and put it into video format.  The information is broken down into several videos that can be either ordered as a DVD or viewed on-line at a time that is convenient for you.

Cartoon Sharing TrailsAdventure Trail Posters, Activity Books and CD-ROMs

An interactive youth program that features trail ethics and safety messages in a fun manner. The books, posters and CD-ROMs are available to any OHV group, dealer, or land management organization that wishes to utilize it at their events or dealerships.

Rider Training Courses

Know someone whom you would like riding?  Here is the best way to get them going.  There are All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Off-Highway Motorcycle (OHM, dirt bike) rider education courses available.  Your companions, children, spouse, etc will learn how to ride the correct way from a trained instructor.  Imagine all of the arguments this can save!  There are also advanced rider training courses to help you get that edge.

@Tony_OmnpressExcellent point and some great acdive for meeting and event planners to consider. Thanks for sharing those tips for the *Living Conference* or *Conference 2.0.*@LindyDreyerYes, you SociaFish practice what you preach! Your event goals of reaching as many people as possible giving people lots of ways to talk about Buzz2009 are some great examples that other conference organizers should consider. What a great case study your conference will be once all the ripples are felt, recognized and considered.

Thanks Midori for adding to the duiicssson. The recording of the presentation will be available later from KRM informtion free of charge so you can still listen to my fast-paced, information sharing Webinar. Here are my thoughts about your questions:Push vs pull education: For years, conference organizers have decided what was important to offer in education sessions. In some cases, committees decided the topics, speakers and content. Today, people want to self-organizer around specific topics and issues and they want to pulll experiences, knowledge and information from each other. Peer2Peer Roundtable Discussions style sessions where attendees enter a room and can choose from 20-50 or more different topics, one at each of the tables is an example of the pull method. The roundtables are not based on top-down controlled lectures. Instead they are facilitated duiicsssons with the attendees deciding the questions/issues about the topic and leading the direction of the duiicssson. Another type of pull method is OpenSpace sessions where the topics are decided onsite as people enter the room. Event professionals need to offer a variety of concurrent breakouts with some using traditional lectures for those that want them and the pull method were organized, designed and run by attendees themselves.International audiences & these six principles:I think that each country and culture has to be considered for the best education design of programs. In some cases the way the brain learns and retains information is the same regardless of the country. In other cases, the culture and how those citizens view education are important factors to consider. For the majority of 21st century developed countries, the principles still apply. For instance their is a large adoption in Brazil of the Internt as well as in China. The language and semantics are different so describing some of the concepts can be challenging.Hope that helps some.
